Judy is a new writer that during the day works with community groups to help pay the bills and steals time to write in the earlier hours of the night. Getting involved with the 492 Korna Klub project, has allowed her to do two things which she enjoys; address issues in the community and create fictional characters in a social context. Judy finds inspiration in people she meets in her line of work; those who actively get involved to help make a difference and others who put in their complaints, secretly wishing they could move mountains with a word or two.
Richmond is an actor, musician, song writer and leader of several art based projects. He is the Spearhead of Abstract Word. AW are a Collective of musicians, singers, poets, spoken word artists rappers and dancers who collaborate and perform/record original songs.He also leads a loose collective of Actors & Arts Practioners /Facilitators under the name of Journeyman Arts (using the Arts to share & pass on knowledge) devising workshops and Theatre pieces which address issues that effect the community. Richmond has as worked extensively within the criminal justice system for several companies using art based initiatives with the view to assist in breaking the offending cycle. Max is our senior engineer. He is the Founder and Director of Radio Active Company. He has spent the last 9 nine years training and supporting community radio stations and recording programmes as a broadcast engineer and consultant. He has worked on radio projects in Chad, Cameron and Palestine and was one of the founder of Chicago-based Radios Populares, a group that supports community radio stations in Latin America. From 2002 to 2004, he worked at Kirkegaard Associates, one of the world's top acoustic and audio-visual design companies. Clare Douglas was born in Australia but has lived in London since she was 20 years old. She has a background in community based youth work and has delivered training and workshops in a variety of settings and locations. She is also an enthusiastic participant in a variety of community arts projects. She has MSc in Organizational Behavior and has delivered workshops and training in a variety of settings and locations. Fay is a regular and popular volunteer with Disabilty Advice Service Lambeth since 2006 and has helped many people with their problems during that time. Fay is an extremely modest person but we would like to take this opportunity to thank her for everything she does to support her local community and congratulate her on the well-deserved recognition she has received. She has been nominated for a South London Heroes Award in recognition of her many years of voluntary work in the Brixton area.
Elaine is trained at Morley College as an actress and has studied Voice Over at The London Academy of Radio Film and Television. She has participated in various radio, theatre and TV productions including roles in “Empathy” and “Little Miss Jocelyn” for the BBC and 'Skins' for E4 while in theatre she has played roles such as Valmai in “A Night Under Canvas” and Mattie in “The Beguiled”. She has also acted in several independent films including Theresa in “The Empire” and Agent Sonia, a time traveling secret agent in 'Bygones', which was shown at The Cannes Film Festival. Elaine was shortlisted for the Norman Beaton Fellowship Award for BBC Radio Drama and was a dancer in the opening ceremony of the Paralympics Games in 2012. She has recently participated in a radio play for Resonance FM playing a medic.
Kyra is the youngest member of the team. She is very talented and in her spare time she enjoys singing and looking after her baby brother. When she grows up she dreams of becoming a performer and teacher as she likes being in charge. If someone says she is cute she naturally respond " No, I am Gorgeous".
Schiekelle first got into acting from the tender age of 5, when she used to perform various plays at her Church. She went on to study Drama both at GCSE and A-level. During her University years Schiekelle was involved in many acting projects, performing with Talawa Theatre
Company, Noh Budget Films and various other theatre work and short films. After taking time out of acting for a few years to raise her family, Schiekelle is now very keen to get back into what she enjoys and loves. As well as ‘In Search Of O’ Schiekelle is also currently one of the cast members of ‘492 Korner Klub’. With 3 children under her belt, there is a new drive and determination for her to succeed in her love for the arts.
Antony has been in the acting business for over 20 years now. He has participated and played in movies next to Morgan Freeman, Wesley Snipes, Willem Dafoe, Ray Liota and many more. Also he has participated in a host of UK productions and films. Antony is currently involved in the production of a short film that will be ready within the next year 2014.
An accomplished actress Shani Sundi has performed in many plays. Her humble beginnings were in ‘roots’ plays beginning with Hugh Kings famous NIGHT WORK, where she played the lead role of Jenny. She went on to star in such plays as DIARIES OF A BLACK MAN. Her accomplishments included films and videos such as GLASS HOUSES and PRINCESS BLACK. A new direction in this radio production continues Shani’s love for the arts.
Paulanne is a hackney girl born and bred. Black British with a political B. A lover of the Arts and dramatical theatre. She has spent a summer season at the National and Cockpit Youth Theatre. TV and Theatre roles included ‘Black On Black’, ‘ExtraOdinary People’s Show’, ‘Junior showtime’, Backing vocalist with the Murabantas and backing ban to Relator an Explainer. She has been a resident vocalist at the London Palladium and a cast member of both the Olympics and ParaOlympics which she considers to be an honour and a pleasure. Paulanne was also a member of the Post Olympic Dance troupe Performed with McFly Christmas 2013 to turn on the Oxford St Christmas lights. She has acted as an extra in films ‘South of the River’, ‘The Hermit’, ‘Nestea’, ‘The Comedian’.
Rashford is a Jamaican born actor. He moved to the UK in the mid 60’s. He has been a resident of Yorkshire, West midlands and London. His first occupation was as a Disc Jockey. He then moved on to work in the Motor car industry moving into welding. He later trained as a refrigeration engineer. To date Rashford is self- employed. He is a father of 2 and grandfather of 8. His hobbies include listening to music, watching sports, reading and amateur acting. Rashford has participated in local productions and he would like to have more involvement and varied roles in the acting fraternity. He hopes his grandchildren will follow his example by entering into performing arts.
Eric worked with both Tony Cealy & Tony Warren many years ago, in a 1990 production of "Whose Life is it Anyway?" Cealy was a hospital porter, Colvin the quadroplegic he cares for, and Warren a hotshot lawyer, hired to assert his right to die. Since then, Eric has appeared in countless plays, a handful of forgettable features, a few more very memorable short films, and attended one or two of Tony’s previous training workshops. He lives in Essex with his wife, a lodger, and eight chickens – the fattest of which will be next Sunday’s lunch.
Nathaniel is a young aspiring actor who has over 10 years experience in the field of performing arts. He had written and directed his own plays. Nathaniel believes in community projects being vital for the word community to still exist. He joined the project as he sees it as a new challenge and experience.
Olivette went into acting later on in life and has thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! Her acting work to date has been quite varied and has included stage, film, voice overs, coporate work and a pilot T.V drama. She enjoys devising and working on interesting art projects as well as playing a variety of characters.
Uriah is eight years old. He is very talented and in his spare time he enjoys reading, writing, singing and learning about space. When Uriah grows up, his dream is to become an astronaut, but for now, he is concentrating on becoming an actor.
Angela is a Legal Secretary, writer, actress, and director. Her acting experiences started as a child and she continued into her teens, when she began to write black plays.
